Bovine papillomavirus type 1 oncoprotein E5 inhibits equine MHC class I and interacts with equine MHC I heavy chain
In horse fibroblasts made immortal with human telomerase, E5 suppresses the major histocompatibility complex of class I on two levels, through the reading of the heavy chain and through retention in the Golgi apparatus, while E5 alone was not sufficient for immortalisation.
